Founded by Ntokozo Manyike
Sweet Scent was founded by Ntokozo Manyike, a young entrepreneur whose passion for fragrances began at a very early age.
Growing up, Ntokozo admired his father's collection of perfumes and developed a deep appreciation for the confidence and presence a great fragrance could create. One day, his father gifted him a fragrance, and from that moment his love for scents grew even stronger.
At school, he began receiving compliments almost every day. Classmates would ask what fragrance he was wearing and where they could get it. Some wanted to smell like him, while others simply loved the scent and wanted one for themselves.
Instead of simply sharing where the fragrance came from, Ntokozo saw an opportunity. What started as helping friends get fragrances slowly became the foundation of a business idea.
Although the vision began during his school years, Sweet Scent officially launched on 15 July 2023 after he completed matric. Starting with only R350 and seven bottles of perfume, he began building the business one customer at a time.
The name Sweet Scent was inspired by a phrase people often used around him: "Uthengisa ama swidi", meaning he sells nice things or treats. Combining the idea of "sweet" with fragrance led to the creation of the name Sweet Scent.
Today, Sweet Scent creates and mixes its own fragrances from scratch. Every bottle is crafted with passion, care and attention to detail. Our goal is to help people feel confident, smell great and leave a lasting impression without breaking the bank.
